Practical coaching for unconventional leaders.

Being first takes courage.

When you look around, how many examples do you see of the kind of leader that you want to be?

If you are like the majority of my clients, the answer is probably not many.

When you are a leader in uncharted territory, whether it is starting a new business, leading a team, or chasing a dream, you may not have a roadmap to follow or anyone to turn to for advice. Or worse, you may be surrounded by advice that is not right for you.

After all, you're not looking to be just like everyone else - you've been different all your life.

What you really want to be is the best version of yourself.

Coaching Engagement

There are three ways to work with Marina:

    • Unlimited sessions for 3 months
    • Unlimited sessions for 6 months

Completion

At the conclusion of the engagement, clients evaluate the progress made toward the objectives set at the onset of coaching. During the closing ceremony, they reflect on their experience and make commitments to themselves for continued growth.

What is a typical session like?

Each session starts with establishing the topic for the conversation.

"What would be the best use of our time together," I'll often ask.

Then, we dive in to explore:

  • Why is this important to you?
  • How will life be different when you've achieved this?
  • What has stood in your way up until now?
  • What are you willing to do differently to create the outcomes you desire?

These are just a few examples of the types of questions you may be asked. I often hear from clients "Hmm, I've never thought about that before." That is the point.

One of the key differences between hiring a professionally trained coach and talking to a friend is that friends, while well-intentioned, will often give you the same advice they would give themselves, through the lens of their values and beliefs rather than yours.

As a coach, I'm listening deeply and strategically. Not so I can give you advice, but so I can show you the invisible blueprint that you are following, which then allows you to make deliberate choices that are more in line with your values and beliefs.

At the end of the session, you'll have an opportunity to reflect on the most important learnings and write down the specific actions you'll take to further your goal, layering in the accountability that is necessary for change to take place.

About Marina

I am a professional coach based in Elk Grove, California.

I have been fascinated by human behavior from a young age. When I was 8 years old, I moved to the Bay Area, California with my family. We were refugees from the civil war in Tbilisi, Georgia. Learning English and this new American culture made me a skilled observer of nuance, tone, and language. And, I was keenly aware of all the ways I was "different."

After graduating with a degree in HR, I went to work at some of the biggest retailers like Home Depot, Target, and Whole Foods, learning how to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts amongst diverse teams.

Now, almost 20 years later, I've helped hundreds of leaders in retail and biotech to be more flexible in their thinking, to assess situations from various perspectives, and find their unique voice.

In 2020, the world fundamentally changed. It became more apparent than ever that conventional leadership was on it's way out. In 2021, I launched my independent coaching practice to serve the next generation of leadership and I am proud that my practice is still 100% referral-based.

I share my life with my husband Brandon and our small zoo; dogs Roxie and Chet and fabulous feline, Furblob. When I'm not working, I love listening to true crime podcasts, crocheting, and dancing.

Happy Clients

Quotation Mark

I approach stressful situations with more clarity and better confidence than I have in the past. Marina helped me discover the strengths I already had within me and showed me how to utilize them and get out of my own way.

I can share any and every problem with Marina and she will use it to teach me a new technique or to practice one I learned before, and as a result, in many cases it felt like I solved the problem or at least made it not as big and scary. This is such an empowering feeling!

Marina created a learning environment that felt safe to make mistakes or not know the answers. I really appreciated her ability to point out my strengths and create space for them to shine through.
